Monica Gärtner

Monica Gärtner was born with a rare bone disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta where her bones break easily. She has had hundreds of fractures. Despite her challenges in the spring of 2023, Monica’s journey took a dramatic turn when she faced a life-threatening ordeal with both her lungs collapsing, she almost died. However, her unwavering faith saw her through the most difficult journey of her life, earning her the Courage to Come Back Award sponsored by Coast Mental Health.

Monica expressed her Christian faith in her book “Overcoming the Impossible – A Life of Trials and Triumphs,” where she credits God who helped her through the most difficult time in her life. She is writing her second book about traveling where she explores various countries for their accessibility, and explores their churches. Her outlook is deeply rooted in her faith as she attributes her survival and success to God’s never ending grace.
