Chan Skalinder

Chan Skalinder is the Director of Philanthropy at the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Canada, where he leads efforts to unite Christians and Jews through compassion, advocacy, and shared faith. His journey of ministry began in 1988 when he felt a clear call from God to serve as a missionary in Ukraine — then part of the Soviet Union. That call led him to Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Salem, Oregon, where he trained and led teams focused on reaching Eastern Europe.

In 1994, Chan and his wife Deborah moved with a team to Ternopil, Ukraine, to establish a long-term YWAM base. During their years of service there, their two daughters, Rebekah and Sarah, were born — a season marked by both ministry and family growth. The base they helped plant continues to thrive today, now led by Ukrainians who carry forward the vision of transformation and discipleship. Amid war, trauma, and destruction, the work of that team is more vital than ever — bringing hope, healing, and love to a nation in deep need.

Today, Chan brings that same heart for unity and bold faith to his work at the Fellowship. He is spearheading Flags of Fellowship in Canada — a global movement that mobilized thousands of churches, synagogues, and universities to honor the 1,200 lives lost on October 7, 2023, and to stand in visible, unwavering solidarity with Israel and the Jewish people.

With decades of ministry experience and a deep commitment to faith in action, Chan continues to champion initiatives that bring healing, hope, and unity to a divided world.
