Everyday Miracles

When we hear the word miracle, we often picture the instantaneous. Our hearts long for those moments when God shows up unmistakably and powerfully. And while He absolutely does, miracles don’t always come the way we expect.

They are not always loud or immediate, but they are no less divine.

Miracles remind us that God is near and active in our lives, working in ways both seen and unseen. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20 NIV).

Sometimes, the miracles God gives aren’t the ones we ask for, but the ones He knows we need.

It might look like a shift in your mindset, the strength needed, or peace that shows up in the middle of chaos. Paul wrote about a persistent struggle in his life, a “thorn in the flesh.”

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:8-9).

Paul didn’t receive relief, but he received grace, a miracle that enabled him to endure.

Maybe you’re waiting for a miracle right now. Don’t overlook what God might be doing within you. Strength, forgiveness, peace, these are miracles, too. And often, they are the ones that transform us the most.
