Hetti-Marie Jacobs

Born in Toronto to immigrant parents from Antigua and Ghana, Hetti-Marie grew up in public housing in a single-parent home where faith, hard work, and education shaped her future. A natural singer from childhood, she found her first stages in church and school while excelling academically.

Though she pursued stability through degrees in French Studies and Education and built a teaching career, music never left her. After becoming a Top 48 finalist on Canadian Idol and releasing albums in Nashville, she toured across North America before returning to Toronto as a single mother, later rising to Vice Principal and earning a Master’s in Educational Leadership.

Now a wife, mother of five, educator, and artist, HM continues to write and record. Her latest single, Freedom, is a soulful anthem about faith, courage, and the strength it takes to let go and step into who you are meant to be.
