Major Neil Evenden

Major Neil and Merrilee Evenden entered the College for Officer Training (CFOT) in Toronto in September 1983.  The were ordained and commissioned on June 22, 1985.

Together they served in multiple church appointments in both Saskatchewan and Ontario over 21 years.  Neil was stationed to the Computer Department (IT Dept) at  Territorial Headquarters for 8 years.  During the time at Divisional Headquarter in Saskatchewan and  Ontario North Division, Neil & Merrilee oversaw Youth Ministries and ran the Divisional Camps during the summers.

Major Neil Evenden, has been active in Disaster Services, including many house and commercial fires, floods and other events.  In addition to his deployment to Ground Zero in 2001, Major was also deployed to Biloxi MS after Hurricane Katrina (2005), and a Tornado in Ottawa ON (2018).  He was also the Corps Officer and Incident Commander for The Salvation Army’s response to a Tornado in Midland ON in 2010.

Majors Neil & Merrilee Evenden retired from active duty in July 2024 after 39 years of service, and live near the 2 sons, their wives and 2 granddaughters in Huntsville Ontario.
