Morrissa Nicole

Morrissa was introduced to music at a very young age. Honing her gifts as a classically trained pianist and vocalist she won her first national songwriting competition at just 7 years old- evidently proving that Morrissa was on the right path. As she grew, her love for music and the arts grew with her. She recalls many weekends filled with joyful car rides rehearsing, while travelling throughout the city to perform in: musicals, choirs, stage plays and vocal & piano recitals all throughout her teenage years. Morrissa continued to pursue the arts by working incredibly hard to become a trained actress and received her first television credit shortly after completing her education with some of Toronto’s best acting coaches.

Attending a National competition for acting and singing led Morrissa to the United States. There, she released her first EP Album out of Nashville, TN with the hit single “What If” blazing radio airways all before her 20th birthday. This album allowed Morrissa to meet with the likes of Peter Youngren and travel across North America singing and gracing stages with Gospel giants like Karen Clarke Sheard, Fred Hammond, JJ Hairston and many others. Whether songwriting, playing piano or singing Morrissa feels music is the best way to reach hearts around the world. She affirms that, “Music transcends borders and languages making it one of the most powerful tools to connect with people”.

As an actress Morrissa can be seen and heard on televisions across the country. Selected credits include Kim’s Convenience, Lifetime’s Toying With The Holidays, Netflix’s Let It Snow and more. Selected stage credits include High School Musical 2, We Will Rock You North American Tour 2019/2022 making her debut at Madison Square Garden in 2019. Morrissa can be heard nightly across Canada as the voice of CBC News’ The National and is excited about PBS Kids’ animation series, Lyla in the Loop, where she voices Lydia Loops!

Having earned her Bachelors of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies with the highest distinction Morrissa hopes to one day pursue her Masters and Ph.D in Early Childhood. Her love for children inspired her to create Youth Empowered to Stand, a community initiative in collaboration with her church The Worship Center Ministries. This program seeks to foster and develop the love for the arts for the younger generation.

When asked about her why Morrissa says, “I sing to share the love of Jesus, I sing to give a voice to the voiceless and to remind people of God’s heart for them.” Her favourite saying is, “perfection doesn’t live here, grace does”, and she attributes all her success and what is to come to the glory of God. With the heart for people everywhere and a powerful evocative voice this is just the beginning for Morrissa Nicole.
