Day 47 – From Death to Life: The Joy of Resurrection Sunday

Apr 20, 2025 | Devotional, Lent

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”

– Matthew 28:5-6 (NIV)

It’s Resurrection Sunday—a day of awe and celebration!

Picture the women at the tomb, hearts heavy with grief, carrying spices to honour Jesus’ body. But instead of a sealed tomb, they found an empty one. Instead of sorrow, they were met with the startling, life-changing words of the angel: “He is not here; He has risen!” Can you imagine their shock? Their wonder? Their hope? Overwhelmed with joy, they ran to share the news. Jesus is alive!

This is the message that transforms everything. When Jesus rose, He conquered sin, death, and the grave forever! The enemy’s power shattered, and eternal life became available to all who call on His name. In His resurrection, we find hope, freedom, and victory.

Take a moment to envision the empty tomb. The silence of death replaced by the sound of angelic proclamation. The despair of Friday overtaken by the triumph of Sunday. He is alive; because He lives, we can live fully and abundantly.

Jesus didn’t just rise to secure eternity; He rose to give us life now—a life overflowing with grace, joy, and purpose. In Him, our brokenness becomes wholeness. Our past mistakes no longer define us. Our future is radiant with promise because of the Saviour who walked out of the tomb.

Let’s take time today to praise the One who made this possible. Jesus, the Lamb who was slain, is alive! We stand in awe of His sacrifice and victory, marveling at the love that held Him on the cross and the power that raised Him from the grave. How has your life changed because of His resurrection? Where have you experienced His freedom and grace?

Reflect on your journey as a child of God:

  • When have you most deeply felt the power of Jesus’ resurrection in your life?
  • How will you share the joy of this Good News with others today?

The resurrection is not just a story from history—it is a reality that shapes our lives and futures. The empty tomb reminds us that no situation is beyond redemption. Hope always rises because Jesus has risen.

So, let us rejoice! Celebrate the Saviour who has conquered the grave, given us new life, and called us His own. He is alive, and His life transforms everything.

Thank you for walking through this Lenten journey with us. Today, as we celebrate the resurrection, let’s carry the joy of Easter with us and boldly share the Good News: He is risen!

In awe and gratitude,

Your friends at The 700 Club Canada
