
Shequita Thompson-Reid
Shequita Thompson-Reid has been a trailblazer in community development and equity work for over 20 years, leveraging her expertise to drive transformative outcomes for individuals, communities, and organizations. As Co-Founder of Skill Up Mentorship and Trades, Shequita brings her extensive experience in aligning community needs with equity-based solutions to bridge gaps in access, mentorship, and support within the trades industry.
Throughout her career, Shequita has held leadership roles in housing and shelter, community economic development, and learning and development, focusing on equity at all levels of government. Over the past seven years, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing equitable strategies for unhoused populations, working with local and governmental bodies to create impactful strategic plans and visioning processes that deliver long-term outcomes.
Her work with Skill Up builds on this foundation, focusing on creating opportunities for individuals, particularly those transitioning back into their communities post-incarceration, to build meaningful careers in the trades while addressing the broader skills gap in the industry.
Shequita’s ability to foster collaboration and implement strategic equity-based solutions has positioned her as a leader in advancing social justice, community empowerment, and systemic change.
