
Todd and Melissa Shaffer
Todd and Melissa Shaffer lost their 18-year-old son to suicide after a six-year battle with mental illness. Channeling their grief, they created a documentary to support bereaved parents and guide churches to walk alongside those whoโve lost a child.ย
Melissa writes at Christian Suicide Loss and leads the “Touched by Suicide” Facebook group for While We’re Waiting Ministry. Todd hosts the Sparrow Falls Podcast and contributed to “Held Through the Storm: Stories of Suicide Loss and Hope in Christ,” a book published by Our Hearts Are Home Ministry.ย
Todd, a filmmaker with over 30 years in animation, was an animation director on Warner Bros.โ The Day the Earth Blew Up and Disneyโs Disenchanted. He also wrote and directed the independent film The Promise: Birth of the Messiah. Melissa, a former homeschooling mom and photographer, assists Todd in his filmmaking and ministry work. Todd often preaches at churches in Montreal.ย
